On Thursday afternoon, the Titans field hockey teams faced the Oakville Trafalgar Devils in back to back games at HT.

The senior girls knew they had a tough match-up, with the Devils’ 2-0-1 record preceding them. The girls came out fighting, getting caught up in a rough start to the game. After a number of chances, OT took a 1-0 lead and held onto it until halftime. HT put on a strong defensive first half and really grew into the game. The second half saw the floodgates open for the visitors. Within 15 minutes, the Devils scored four goals. With the scoreline sitting at 5-0, Holy Trinity locked up their defensive strategy and held off the Devils’ offence for the rest of the game. Despite the on-field struggles, the lady Titans kept up a positive spirit and are looking forward to turning things around for the rest of the season. Looking ahead to next week’s meeting with Garth Webb, veteran defender Erin McMurray had this to say: “The team has a lot of potential, we just need to really buckle down and put in some work. I think we could be the team to beat, just like last year, if we wanted to. I believe in us."

The junior girls faced OT’s junior squad immediately after the game. After a strong showing in the first half, they fell behind in the second. The final score was 3-0 for the visiting side. Next Tuesday, the girls will take on the Garth Webb Chargers. Good luck girls, and: Go Titans!!!
