Pink Day 2017

There is a certain excitement in the atmosphere of HT any time there is a buyout football game. The 2017 Pink day was no exception.

With our senior boys rolling in W’s and matching up against the also undefeated Loyola, spirits were high and attention spans were low as first period teachers all but gave up hope for trying to wrestle in some learning before the big game, instead opting to join the excitement instead.

A sea of pink filled the atrium that sunny October day as people chattered excitedly while waiting in line to buy their tickets. Pink accessories from pyjama pants to bandanas to knee socks and bucket hats adorned almost every Titan.

The enthusiasm was fuelled by the pep-rally, in which SAC outdid themselves once again. Holy Trinity got to meet their new Titan Crew; featured in a funny (but creepy!) video and performing school cheers and raps to choreographed dance routines.

The Titan athletes got to show off their jerseys in the sports fashion show, and boast their skills in a fall highlight reel. The pep rally was fast paced and kept the audience riveted throughout, while making sure it was known what a dominant season the Holy Trinity sports teams had had.

When everyone had gotten their fill of spirit and was sufficiently hyped for the game, all of the students took their seats in the bleachers to cheer on the senior football team.

The Titans scored 4 touchdowns in a row to take a healthy lead over their competitors. By halftime the home crowd’s spirits flew as they held black and gold sparkly signs that bore slogans supporting their favourite players.

Students chatted with visiting alumni, bought pink treats from the bake sale and enjoyed a small halftime show put on by the Titan Crew.

By the fourth quarter, Loyola was making a final comeback push, scoring three touchdowns before the end. It was not much cause for concern for the pink-clad supporters at it was clear that the home team would win handily. The final score was 48-21 for the good guys.

Pink Day is always a hallmark of a good year at Holy Trinity, and 2017 is no exception. Special thanks goes out to SAC and the senior boys football team who practiced every day to give their supporters a good game.

This year, the added motivation to win and “tackle cancer” comes from Mr Camilletti, who is currently kicking cancer’s butt.

With their beloved coach in mind, it is easy for the football team and the whole HT community to be confident in a good playoff run, hopefully filled with many buyouts to come.

As always… GO TITANS!!!
