The idea for Ford’s ‘Drive 4 Ur School’ event originated from a win-win model. Ford used this opportunity to sell its cars to their target market and also advertise for their newest models. Team 3161 benefitted from the donations they received from each test drive. A total of $2,600 was raised over 6 hours on Saturday September 26th. It was a bright and beautiful day where everyone was wearing sunglasses in the sun, enthusiastically waving to the cars passing by to come in for a drive to change our school community.

One popular car that was featured for the drivers was definitely the newest Mustang. Almost all of the males, and some females requested to test drive a Mustang. I myself was lucky enough to go on a test drive with a mentor and a friend sitting beside me. Spending the day together and test driving cars was a great opportunity for team building, as well as building trust and friendships.

A big part of this event was the great food. People might get overly excited, causing them to be short of energy. Thus, comes the bake sale and waffles stands. Another thing to mention is that every purchase that was given to Team 3161 was entered into a raffle to earn a free Kobo Ereader, which was donated by a parent of a student on the team. We thankfully express our gratitude to all who have sponsored us through the event.

We made an improvement on the amount we raised, but we were still a little short from our goal of $6,000. We wish you a merry drive and we wish to thank you for your donations. Hope that you enjoyed this event and we look forward to seeing you again next year! Mark your calendars for the end of September 2016! Keep an eye out to out our Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Youtube channel for more updates.
