"New" and Improved Chapel

Students may have noticed that the doors to our school chapel have been closed that past few days, which would seem very strange, as we are constantly being encouraged to stop by for a moment of prayer or reflection throughout the day.
Those who are familiar to the chapel and do stop by every once in awhile, will be pleased to know that not only is our sanctuary reopened, but now they will be treated to some stunning works of art to admire during times of prayer.
The new, greatly-anticipated artwork gloriously depicts Lord Jesus, hands spread in a welcoming gesture, appearing in heaven above a crucifix and a reading from John: “I am the WAY, the TRUTH & the Life”. This image appears behind the altar to be beheld centrally during religious ceremonies and activities. The painted additions also include a well-known mantra to the Holy Trinity community: “Love of Jesus fill us, Holy spirit guided us, will of the Father be done”, appearing next to a white dove on the far wall.
Our thanks goes to inspired artist Jack Dolganiuk from Illusion Images, who worked for 10 days to make an already beautiful space in our school even more aesthetically pleasing.
Ms. O’Connell, beaming with excitement, reminds students that “The Chapel is a place for everyone in the school to have a quiet moment, a prayer, a reflection… [the] new artwork is a way to make us want to spend time there.”
After only two days of being open to view, the new additions already seem to be doing their job. Ms. O’Connell says that even students who are, admittedly, quote “not religious,” have come by to tell her that they thought the new murals are “amazing”.
This story brings fresh to our minds the message that Father Jason delivered to us at the Thanksgiving mass in early October. Many weeks ago, we were told to pay regular visits to the chapel to “Just say hello to God,” and stop to sit and tell Him about our problems. Perhaps having the face of Jesus to look at while reflecting will be helpful to those of us who have trouble praying because there is no one to physically address.
That being said, Chaplain O’Connell is excited to announce a number of activities taking place in our newly adorned chapel in the upcoming season of advent, and in preparation for the next liturgical year. The next couple of weeks will feature rosary seminars for all Gr. 9 religion classes from the Rosary Apostolates, guided meditations sessions, reconciliation preparation, and advent prayer services from our local priests.
Even though the chapel will be often abuzz with activity in the coming weeks, a general message from Ms. O’Connell rings true: everyone is always welcome. So Titans, shelve any reservations you may have about visiting our chapel and stop by at your leisure to be inspired by the view.
“Ask, and you will receive, seek, and you will find, knock, and the door will be opened to you “
-Matthew 7:7
