Holy Trinity senior boys’ basketball team defeated the Georgetown D.H.S with an impressive victory, ending the game off with 62-26. We could not be any prouder with how well our Titans are doing this season. Now, here’s a little recap of what went down in the game Tuesday night.

In the first quarter, they kicked off the game with power and determination as they worked hard to stay strong defensively and offensively. Defensively, they were not giving Georgetown the chance to score any points as many players were tight on the offence, not allowing them the opportunity to score. Offensively, there were many times where our Titans provided an opening for passing, which allowed them to gain the upper hand and score more points. This proved to be the key to success in getting the upper hand as the first quarter ended with 25-7.

In the second quarter, they continued to prosper in the game as they made some great passing and broke through Georgetown’s defence to drive towards the net and make incredible lay-ups. Not to mention, the outstanding three-pointers that brought them up the scoreboard, ending the second quarter with 45-20.

In the third quarter, they worked and played with absolute intensity, testing Georgetown’s offence as there were a couple amazing “stuffs” that were made. Holy Trinity also did a fantastic job of swatting the ball from the offence at times where they had opportunities to make excellent passes. This brought them to a score of 58-23 by the end of the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, the team was confident with their plays and truly excelled in getting rebounds off of attempted shots on net. Ultimately, this led them to their inevitable victory, winning 62-26.

I caught up with assistant coach Stonkus to get his thoughts and feelings about the team’s performance and what we can expect from their next game. He said the following: “They need to keep their intensity and stay focused. This next game is going to be very intense. Reeding are defending champions and we’re both undefeated in our season, so I think both teams are looking to make a statement.”

We wish our senior boys’ basketball team nothing but the best of luck as they face off against Reeding in their next game! Congratulations on the win against Georgetown!

GO TITANS!!
