Excitement filled the gymnasium on Tuesday afternoon as our senior boys basketball team squared off against the Jean Vanier Knights in an exhilarating quarter-final match. With the usual “de-fence” chanting from the players, and the instruction of their supportive coaches, our fellow Titans never faltered in their efforts to succeed and claim the victory.

In the first quarter, our senior boys started the game off with determination and strength. They challenged Jean Vanier’s defence and made remarkable power plays, resulting in many points to be scored and applause to erupt from the crowd. Elijah Lostracco (3) pulled off an amazing drive towards the net, racking up two points. Tariq Eisa (32) and Cullen Welsford (5) also made terrific plays, resulting in two and three-point field goals. The first quarter ended with a score of 15-5.

In the second quarter, they continued to excel and succeed in the game. The boys communicated and promoted strong teamwork as they were smart with their plays and diligent with their defence. Welsford, Chris Hankins (1), and Eisa were also very strong on offence. Not to mention Jean Vanier’s offence which was no match for the HT defence as shots were blocked and the ball was retrieved several times. With the points continuing to rack up, the score for the second quarter ended at 35-9.

In the third quarter, the intensity of the game increased as both teams began to put in all of their effort. Welsford, Hankins, Eisa, and Lostracco continued to rack up points, putting pressure on Jean Vanier and their game plan. It was a fantastic conclusion to the third quarter as it ended with a score of 51-25. Finally, the fourth and final quarter of the game brought the Titans to a triumphant victory as our boys continued to strengthen their performance on the court, never failing in their efforts. The game concluded with a wonderful score of 71-47.

Since it is the playoffs, I can imagine that our senior squad is under a tremendous amount of stress. We wish them nothing but the best of luck in their forthcoming games and hope that they continue to play with courage, strength, and determination!

GO TITANS!!

Update: The boys fell 75-73 in their semifinal matchup against Assumption in front of a raucous crowd in Burlington. Congrats on a great season, boys!
