Titans Steam-Roll to Second Pre-Season Gold

The defensive showcase continued for the junior girls soccer team Wednesday morning and afternoon on HT’s very own soccer field. The Titans took part in their second pre-season tournament of the year, hoping to become fully prepared for the regular season. Hopefully the tournament was a taste of what's to come for the team because the girls blew by all the competition without looking back. Due to an irregular format the tournament was played in a round-robin style: where all of the teams play each other once, and the winner takes home the championship. Also unique to the tournament, the games had a score limit of 4 goals, which meant that the explosive Titan offence was restrained to a maximum of only four goals per game. However, once the goal limit was reached goals could continue to be scored, they just wouldn't be shown on the scoreboard. With such a dynamic team no such limits could hold back the junior girls. They started off by demolishing bitter rivals, Iroquois Ridge, by a score of 7-0 (4-0) in the early morning game, a fantastic way to start off the day and set the tone for the remainder of the tournament. They promptly followed up the first victory with another, over St. Jean de Brebeuf from Hamilton, taking the game 3-0. Finally, in the afternoon game HT powered through the fatigue and soreness to steal a game from St. Paul by a final score of 5-0 (4-0) to escape the day and remain undefeated. In addition to being unbeaten, the Titans have also not allowed a goal through six games to begin the season, a true testament to how well rounded a team they are. This championship marks the second tournament that the team has won in this young season, and the team has made it clear through their actions that they're not finished with their winning ways quite yet. The real question is, what will they win next? For more stats, scores, and updates, stay tuned. And as always, go Titans!
