From afar, the entrance to Le Dome Banquet Hall looked like any red carpet event, from ladies in elegant dresses to gentlemen in dashing suits, filing out of swiftly arriving cars. The door to the building and the walkway pertaining to it were designated the roles of the red carpet and the parents were filling in for the parts of the paparazzi, getting out of cars just long enough to snap a few mementos of their excited charges who couldn’t wait for the flurry of the night’s activities to begin.

Upon entering the sprawling room we could see the memorable candelabra under which tables were set up with food that would be cleared away in time for when the music started and people took to the dance floor. The room was packed with people who took the few moments before the beginning of the evening to mingle with their friends and obtain refreshments from the bar.

Upon request, all 34 tables were filled with their occupants and after a short Grace, the meal was served and the evening had officially begun. After devouring our delicious meal, the tables in the centre of the room were cleared away and the DJ put on the soundtrack to our night.

The music played ranged from Sam Smith’s Stay With Me, to iHeart Memphis’ Hit the Quan, and was perfect for fueling the outrageously fun dancing and party spirit of the HT community. Everyone seemed to be lost in dance-under the watchful eyes of our dutiful chaperones, of course-and soon the ladies cast aside their confining heels for the opportunity of dancing the night away. The atmosphere for the rest of the night could only be described as energetic, dynamic, and indefatigable. The only regrets at the end of the evening seemed to be that our semi formal ended too quickly and that we would all have to return to the reals of the world - AKA school - the next day.

The success of the 2016 Spring Fling Semi Formal cast aside all doubts of whether or not one should consider coming to such events and set the bar high for future dances, the magnificence of which all HT students should be able to experience.
